Membership and Volunteer Coordinator
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised volunteer to help support our small charity through an exciting period of development and growth in order to organize events and to increase the charity’s profile generally in the North East. We are currently working towards the launch of a new campaign which will include the recruitment of volunteers for the charity and the creation of a membership database to increase the reach of the charity’s work.

Summary of role |
As a small board we have previously relied upon grant funding. Now, we need to improve our community fundraising and to develop a fundraising strategy. We are a varied Board of 7 Trustees but we have identified a skills gap with regards to fundraising and marketing strategy. This is new territory for the charity and we were looking for a volunteer to work with the board to develop this area and to help to secure the future viability of the charity so we can help vulnerable people in the North East.

Impact this opportunity will have
This is an opportunity to help a local charity to raise awareness and vital funds in order to improve the lives of individuals living with neurological conditions. You will be working towards the launch of a new campaign which is intended to recruit volunteer ambassadors to the charity, thus widening the reach of the charity and the individuals whom we are able to help.
The poor management of neurological conditions is a prevalent problem in the North East. The most recent local data estimates that nearly 15,000 admissions to hospital in the North East were primarily due to one of the selected long term neurological condition (LTNC). The report also estimates that over 53,000 finished consultant episodes had LTNC coded as co-morbidity or main diagnosis. The scale of the problem is huge. This is an opportunity to get involved in raising standards across the board so that individuals living with neurological conditions are empowered to play an active role in their support plans including how their condition is managed (self-management), the care / support received and meaningful contribution to their community through activities, volunteering and employment – providing opportunity to fulfil life goals and live as independently as possible.
